LCA life cycle assessment

An LCA maps the environmental impact of a product, material or service over its entire life cycle: from raw materials and production to use, maintenance and end of life.

Definition

A life cycle assessment makes design choices comparable by placing all environmental effects in one framework, rather than looking at a single phase.

Applied in practice

New Economy carries out LCAs for materials and products, from biobased mycelium insulation to healthcare products, as a basis for design choices, environmental claims and the environmental cost indicator.
