Concepts, methods and applied transition knowledge
The New Economy knowledge base brings together core concepts, methods and perspectives from the regenerative economy. Articles explain footprint, compliance, circular product design, regenerative strategy, food systems and regional policy in practical terms, with clear links to life-cycle assessment (LCA), social cost-benefit analysis (MKBA), CO2 footprint, carbon sequestration, biobased materials and circular business models.
QALY quality-adjusted life year
A QALY is a measure of health gain that combines the length and quality of life into a single number.
In a social cost-benefit analysis, the QALY makes health effects comparable with other social costs and benefits.
Applied in practice
New Economy uses QALYs to quantify health gains in impact analyses of, for example, healthy food and neighbourhood kitchens, so that prevention effects count alongside direct costs and benefits.
