Concepts, methods and applied transition knowledge

The New Economy knowledge base brings together core concepts, methods and perspectives from the regenerative economy. Articles explain footprint, compliance, circular product design, regenerative strategy, food systems and regional policy in practical terms, with clear links to life-cycle assessment (LCA), social cost-benefit analysis (MKBA), CO2 footprint, carbon sequestration, biobased materials and circular business models.

A linked task (in Dutch: koppelopgave) is a societal task at neighbourhood level that is deliberately tackled together with other tasks, so that one intervention delivers multiple value — social, economic and ecological. The concept comes from the Transform approach (province of Zuid-Holland, 2021-2022), which identified 21 linked tasks across five transitions: from neighbourhood insulation and rainwater disconnection to accessible education and the low-traffic neighbourhood.

The core is the added value of coherence: whoever opens the street for the heat network installs water storage and greenery at the same time. The societal value per task is quantified with a Societal Impact Analysis. Source: Transform Zuid-Holland, buurttransform.nl (in Dutch).
