Concepts, methods and applied transition knowledge
The New Economy knowledge base brings together core concepts, methods and perspectives from the regenerative economy. Articles explain footprint, compliance, circular product design, regenerative strategy, food systems and regional policy in practical terms, with clear links to life-cycle assessment (LCA), social cost-benefit analysis (MKBA), CO2 footprint, carbon sequestration, biobased materials and circular business models.
Climate adaptation
Climate adaptation is the process of adjusting areas, buildings and systems to the effects of climate change, such as heat, drought, flooding and sea-level rise, to limit damage and maintain liveability.
Where climate mitigation reduces emissions, climate adaptation focuses on making an area resilient to effects that are already set in motion or unavoidable. Regenerative area development goes a step further than adaptation: not only becoming resilient, but actively restoring soil, water and biodiversity.
Applied in practice
New Economy maps climate risks and adaptation opportunities for provinces and regions, and connects adaptation to broader regenerative area development rather than isolated measures.
