Scope 3

Scope 3 covers indirect chain emissions outside an organisation’s own operations, such as purchased goods, transport, the use phase, waste processing and investments.

Definition

For many organisations, scope 3 is the largest emission category and therefore decisive for a complete CO₂ footprint and CSRD reporting.

Applied in practice

At Dura Vermeer, 96% of total emissions turned out to be in scope 3, a total of 563,300 tonnes of CO₂. New Economy maps scope 3 step by step: from procurement and logistics to the use phase and end of life.
