Concepts, methods and applied transition knowledge
The New Economy knowledge base brings together core concepts, methods and perspectives from the regenerative economy. Articles explain footprint, compliance, circular product design, regenerative strategy, food systems and regional policy in practical terms, with clear links to life-cycle assessment (LCA), social cost-benefit analysis (MKBA), CO2 footprint, carbon sequestration, biobased materials and circular business models.
Regenerative
Regenerative means that an activity actively restores natural and social systems, rather than merely causing less damage.
Where sustainable aims for less harm, regenerative aims for net restoration of soil, water, biodiversity and community.
Applied in practice
New Economy uses regenerative as a direction beyond net zero: from regenerative agriculture in climate action plans to regenerative design in the Regenerative Design service and the Biobased Design project.
