AVI Duiven is a concrete Gelderland core case for industrial CO₂ capture. Existing capture is about 60 ktonnes CO₂ per year, used in greenhouse horticulture. Further scaling could move the route toward about 300 ktonnes CO₂ per year.
The route depends on infrastructure, storage or utilisation pathways, policy and investment certainty. CO₂ capture at waste incineration does not replace waste prevention and recycling, but it can be a relevant route for residual industrial emissions. The source links this to CCS or CCU as an implementation pathway toward 2030.
