Kraak de Crisis: More Resilient and Sustainable After Corona

Kraakde Crisis

At the start of the corona crisis, Kraak de Crisis emerged: an initiative to come out of the crisis better, more sustainably and more resiliently, with new projects for climate and a more social Netherlands. New Economy contributed pro bono to set up the initiative, together with a large group of enthusiasts.

How it worked

The corona crisis forced many people to pause. Kraak de Crisis used that momentum to examine how society and the economy are organised, and how they could be rebuilt after the crisis.

The goal: to increase the growth chances of the best initiatives for a resilient Netherlands, through one of the largest crowdsourcing campaigns in the country. Initiatives were developed further together with experts at every stage.

Contributing on three trends

The search was for initiatives that increase employment after corona and respond to three trends.

1CO₂ reduction: sustaining the drop in atmospheric CO₂, also looking ahead to the future.
2Caring for each other: a more social Netherlands in which people look out for one another more.
3Circular economy: reusing materials, products and components at high value, reducing waste and lowering dependence on supply from other countries.

Results

More than 290 initiatives signed up for one of the largest crowdsourcing campaigns in the country.

The eleven most promising startups and projects advanced to the bootcamp and pitched in a live broadcast to a panel of experts, including Pepijn Duijvestein. The three winners each received funding to advance their initiative further. Kraak de Crisis also connected a wide range of sustainable and social initiatives with the right partners to help spark systemic change.
