Organic farming covers 3% of Dutch agricultural area, compared with 24% in Austria. The comparison shows that the Netherlands has a relatively small organic share and therefore room to expand if market demand, policy and farmer support align.

For Gelderland, the figure can be used as a benchmark. Growth in organic farming depends on viable revenue models, consumer demand, processing chains and transition support for farmers.
