Unlike land use or timber construction, this sector holds no process that stores carbon over long periods; its emissions are tied to exhaust gases and refrigerants and offer no point of purchase for storage.
The absence of sequestration follows from the nature of the sector: transport moves and burns, but binds no carbon of its own. Where in agriculture and land use silvopasture or tree planting are associated with carbon sequestration, the climate task in mobility lies entirely on the emissions side. Sequestration and reduction therefore both stand at zero in this sector analysis, within the non-energy scope.
