Emissions can be reduced across a broad range of transport modes with smarter transport: a package that combines bundling of flows, trip savings in logistics and Clean Energy Hubs for road transport and inland shipping.
The strength of this approach lies in its breadth: not one technology, but a package that touches both passenger and freight transport. Because inland shipping and road transport are addressed together, the measure fits the logistics role that Gelderland fulfils. Since the gain comes from several measures at once, from bundling and fewer trips to shared loading and refuelling points, the result depends on cooperation between carriers, shippers and governments. That makes smarter transport a subject where regional coordination can make the difference. Source: Climate Opportunities Map Gelderland (Mobility), March 2024.
