In the regenerative scenario of the Gelderland Climate Opportunities Map 2025, the province reaches approximately 79% emission reduction relative to 1990. That is two percentage points above the fully ambitious scenario of 77% and well above the provincial target of 55% for 2030.
The regenerative scenario adds further regenerative solution directions to the ambitious package, aimed at natural carbon sequestration and the restoration of soil and landscape. The additional reduction is associated with a sequestration potential of 338 kton CO₂-eq per year, combining natural and technological capture. For Gelderland this means that the highest attainable range stems not only from emission reduction but also from actively sequestering carbon in agriculture and land use.
