Emissions from the energy sector in Gelderland have fallen from 2.94 to 2.03 Mton CO₂-eq, a decrease of roughly 31%. This decline makes energy the domain with the clearest realised progress in the 2025 progress layer.
The realised decrease correlates with the rise of renewable generation, including rooftop solar and onshore wind. Even so, the remaining task stays large, because electricity demand is growing and grid congestion limits further rollout. The step from 2.94 to 2.03 Mton CO₂-eq shows that structural decline is possible, while the roughly 31% realisation at the same time indicates that most of the energy potential still needs to be captured.
