What is the Environmental Cost Indicator (ECI) for insulation?

Definition. The Environmental Cost Indicator (ECI) bundles eleven environmental indicators into one shadow price. From climate change to resource depletion, eleven effects across an insulation material’s full life cycle are converted into euros per square metre; lower means lower environmental impact.

In the study, the ECI of insulation materials ranged from €0.41/m² (cellulose) to €22.97/m² (perlite). New Economy’s circular insulation study for Amsterdam reports this.
