Real reuse of insulation is lower than database figures

Definition. Real reuse of insulation is lower than database figures. Producer and recycler interviews show PIR is 1% reusable in practice instead of the 7% the NIBE database lists, and flax board 95% instead of 100%; cellulose is higher, 10–20% instead of 0%. For almost all materials, real reuse is lower than the database suggests.

That gap affects a material’s environmental performance and circular value. New Economy’s circular insulation study for Amsterdam reports this.
