The largest climate gain in Gelderland agriculture comes from combining three movements: conservation and regenerative agriculture, a smaller livestock herd and a more plant-rich diet. Together, these measures affect production, demand, land use, methane emissions, manure flows and soil quality.
This is therefore a strategic insight. If the measures are organised separately, system value is lost. Regenerative management improves land health, livestock reduction lowers emissions pressure and a more plant-rich diet reduces demand for animal feed and land. Combined, they create room for nature, short chains, carbon sequestration and more resilient farmer revenue models.
