Not compensating, but creating

Carbon sequestration delivers the most when it creates new value. In agriculture, construction and nature, sequestration can be connected to soil quality, biodiversity, materials and business models — so that storing carbon becomes part of how land, buildings and landscapes generate worth.

This shifts the approach from buying off emissions to regenerative value creation. Instead of treating sequestration as a compensation instrument, it becomes a design principle: farmers build soil and income, builders store carbon in materials, and nature development strengthens ecosystems. The carbon result is then one outcome among several, embedded in models that keep delivering value well beyond the tonne of CO₂ stored.
