From November 2024 through April 2025, New Economy compiled the carbon sequestration market exploration for the province of Noord-Holland. In that half year the international framework of Carbon Dioxide Removal was translated into the Dutch and Noord-Holland context for entrepreneurs, financiers, government bodies and landowners.
The exploration was produced for Noord-Holland in collaboration with the provinces of Gelderland, Utrecht and Zuid-Holland, which makes the findings comparable across regions. Because the study is recent and aligns with the Nationale Routekaart Koolstofverwijdering, the province shares the same conceptual framework as central government around emission reduction and active carbon removal, in which reduction remains the priority.
