Grid congestion can block electrification and slow down a cleaner energy mix. More solar, wind, heat pumps, electric vehicles and industrial electrification all depend on available network capacity. When that capacity is not available at the right place and time, technically strong climate measures can become difficult to implement.
For Gelderland, grid congestion is therefore not only an infrastructure issue. It is a condition for climate execution. Demand spreading, storage, smart charging, local balancing and better planning can help use existing capacity more effectively. At the same time, network expansion remains necessary where structural bottlenecks prevent further clean growth.
