Electric vehicles Utrecht: 870 kton CO₂-eq reduction potential by 2030

Electric vehicles can deliver the province of Utrecht a reduction of 870 kton CO₂-eq per year by 2030. The ambitious scenario extends the historical sales trend: 30% annual sales growth for electric cars, 40% for electric vans and 40% for electric trucks (ING, PWC, Project Drawdown, Top Sector Logistics).

The plausible scenario — a conservative Dutch forecast of 15% / 8% / 10% — still delivers 310 kton. Nearly 80% of passenger-car kilometres are driven by private vehicles: over 93 billion kilometres in 2016.
