The four calculated electricity solutions together deliver the province of Utrecht more than 1,000 kton CO₂-eq of reduction per year by 2030 — more than the current annual emissions of the entire electricity sector (890 kton).
The advice is to pursue the solutions in combination: rooftop solar and solar parks share scarce grid capacity, wind also delivers at night and green gas covers moments without sun or wind. Together they form a complete package for Utrecht’s energy generation.
