Biobased insulation can have low environmental cost despite production emissions

Definition. Biobased insulation can have low environmental cost despite production emissions. Wood fibre board emits 15.5 kg CO₂-eq/m² in production, yet biogenic carbon storage keeps its Environmental Cost Indicator low (ECI €0.95/m², with a minimum as low as −€1.53/m²) — below many mineral materials.

This shows why counting carbon storage changes the verdict on biobased insulation. New Economy’s circular insulation study for Amsterdam reports this.
