Six solutions give Utrecht’s agriculture and land use a combined potential of 1,320 kton CO₂-eq per year by 2030: peatlands, plant-rich diet, silvopasture, cutting food waste, afforestation and regenerative agriculture.
The sector can thereby compensate more than 100% of its own emissions (1.13 Mton in 2018): carbon sequestration in biomass and soil adds to the emission reduction.
