From March 2020, New Economy contributed substantively to a tender for renovating dolphins and guide works in the southern Netherlands. The contribution centred on the ‘circular economy’ award criterion, for which contractor DIMCO B.V. sought supporting analysis. The date marks the start of involvement in a hydraulic-engineering project where circularity formed an explicit part of the assessment.
The timing aligned with a wider shift in civil and hydraulic engineering, where clients increasingly ask for material reuse already at the tender stage. By joining early in the process, the circular case could carry weight at the moment the award was decided.
