Rijkswaterstaat aims to work fully circular by 2030

By 2030, Rijkswaterstaat intends to work circular, a goal the agency carries into the criteria by which tenders are assessed. In the project to renovate dolphins and guide works, that ambition translated into an explicit ‘circular economy’ award criterion. In this way a longer-term target feeds directly into the requirements that apply when a contract is awarded.

For contractors, the 2030 date means circularity is no longer optional but a growing part of the award assessment. Those who demonstrably work out the reuse of released materials align with the direction the client is taking in the years ahead.
