Context

What was ‘The Design Beyond the Decline’ about?

During the evening on 4 November 2022 in the IJzaal of Pakhuis de Zwijger, an international group of designers presented their work and vision on regenerative and distributed design. The programme started from the doughnut economics of economist Kate Raworth, in which distributed design is a core principle, and explored how designers produce locally while staying globally connected, with giving back to nature and society as the starting point.

The series Regenerative & Distributive Design grew out of an open call in September 2022. Examples ranged from edible packaging to tables made from seaweed. New Economy connects this design practice with regenerative value creation, material flows and ownership.
