Utrecht aims to be CO₂-neutral as soon as possible, by 2050 at the latest

The province of Utrecht has sharpened its climate ambition to “CO₂-neutral as soon as possible and by 2050 at the latest”. In addition, at least 55% of electricity use must be generated renewably on the province’s own territory by 2030.

The targets build on the provincial policy framework and the coalition agreement New Energy for Utrecht. The assessment shows that existing climate solutions together have enough potential to bring these targets within reach.
