Smarter collection recovers more raw materials when households, companies and municipalities separate flows in a way that keeps materials usable. Collection design therefore affects the quality and value of everything that happens later in the chain.
For waste scenarios, this means that logistics, behaviour, containers, communication and processing capacity have to be designed together. More collection is not automatically better; the goal is cleaner streams, higher recovery and less downcycling. That makes raw-material recovery a system task.
