Ten ways to reach residents — the form decides who joins the conversation

The Neighbourhood Agenda guide describes ten modules for resident engagement, physical and online: from neighbourhood summit, mobile conversation stand, walking tour, neighbourhood festival and idea post to resident platform, social-media questions, online summit, one-on-one or anonymous voice input and interactive livestream. Each form is weighed on required effort, budget, potential reach and depth of conversation.

The choice matters: a neighbourhood summit offers depth but asks a higher budget, an idea post is anonymous and accessible, a walking tour reaches under-represented groups in their own surroundings, and social media reach younger residents. No form is the best — fitting the residents and the municipality’s way of working is the criterion. Source: Transform Zuid-Holland (in Dutch).
