Live-price energy contracts can support demand response when households and businesses are able to shift electricity use safely and fairly. The point is not only a dynamic price signal, but the ability to respond to it with appliances, charging, heat pumps, storage and building control. Without that response capacity, flexible tariffs remain too abstract.
