Park om de Hoek 2.0 is included in Transitions!, the Stimuleringsfonds Creative Industries publication on the Spatial Design Voucher Scheme. The publication brings together design-led research projects addressing spatial and societal transition challenges in the Netherlands.

New Economy contributed to Park om de Hoek 2.0 together with De Gezonde Stad, the City of Amsterdam, Bloei & Groei and Studio L A. The project developed a shareable approach for green, social neighbourhood parks, with attention to co-creation, shared stewardship, local ownership and financing strategies.

Context: Spatial Design Voucher Scheme

The Spatial Design Voucher Scheme used design-led research as a way to work on transition challenges in the built and lived environment. Transitions! shows how design teams explored themes such as society, nature, cities and villages, water and climate, mobility, agriculture, material flows and energy.

This page uses the publication as source context for New Economy’s involvement. New Economy is not presented as the author of the full Stimuleringsfonds publication, but as a project partner in Park om de Hoek 2.0.

Why Park om de Hoek 2.0 matters

Park om de Hoek 2.0 explored how neighbourhood parks can become greener, socially stronger, better managed and more structurally financed. The approach connects climate adaptation, biodiversity, health, social encounter and local ownership.

  • Co-creation: involving residents and local organisations early in design and use.
  • Shared stewardship: treating management as a shared responsibility, not only as a maintenance task.
  • Local ownership: enabling residents and partners to take responsibility for use, programming and quality.
  • Financing strategy: connecting capital expenditure, management, programming and social value.
