Definition. Aminotherm and PIR have the highest CO₂ emissions of the insulation studied. Of the fifteen materials, aminotherm emits the most at 19.4 kg CO₂-eq/m², followed by PIR at 18.0 kg. By comparison, cellulose is just 1.8 kg per m². Production emissions vary widely by material.

Materials with high production CO₂ can partly cancel out the climate benefit of insulating. New Economy’s circular insulation study for Amsterdam reports this.
