One basic qualification is worth €160,000 in societal value

Circular craft centres, pop-up shops and internships at local firms bring work back into the neighbourhood. The leverage is large: one completed basic qualification represents €160,000 in societal value — €40,000 in higher wages, €110,000 in avoided costs and €10,000 in intangible benefits.

Applied to 10% of residents on social assistance, that delivers a model neighbourhood around €940,000 against €430,000 in costs: €2.18 per euro invested. A vibrant neighbourhood also becomes more attractive to live and work in, and local provisions save transport movements. Source: Transform Zuid-Holland.
