Volunteers carry the hub and build capacity

Volunteers carry the hub and build capacity because food redistribution depends on people who sort, transport, prepare, distribute and welcome. Their work creates operational capacity, but also social value. Volunteers often know the neighbourhood, recognise regular visitors and help keep the initiative accessible.

For a food hub, volunteer capacity is therefore not a side benefit. It is part of the value model. Good coordination, training and predictable tasks make volunteering sustainable. When volunteers are supported well, the hub becomes more reliable and the community around it becomes stronger.
