About 415,000 Gelderland homes can receive additional insulation. Around 85,000 have energy label E, F or G, while about 330,000 have label D or lower. Insulating homes to at least label B is therefore one of the largest renovation tasks in the built environment.

The relevance goes beyond CO₂ reduction. Better insulation lowers heat demand, makes homes more suitable for heat pumps and lower-temperature heat, increases comfort and can reduce energy poverty. Implementation depends on housing associations, private owners, municipalities, finance and neighbourhood-based renovation strategies.
