The raw-materials map in Binas makes scarcity more concrete by showing metals not only as technical inputs, but also as materials with limited availability and geopolitical dependencies. For critical raw materials this is essential: the energy transition requires many metals, but not every metal is equally available.
The map helps sharpen design choices. When scarcity is visible alongside material properties and environmental impact, there is more reason to consider reuse, recycling, substitution and longer product lifetimes. Raw-material security then becomes part of circular design.
