Building a home in timber instead of concrete, brick and steel saves an average of 59 tonnes of CO₂-eq per home. The figure combines NIBE data (2019) with the carbon storage of timber construction from the ONCRA biobased building tool.
Timber construction takes priority over cement alternatives where the two solutions share the same addressable market. Timber and forestry reinforce each other: construction timber keeps the stored carbon locked in for decades.
