720,000 e-bikes by 2030 shows the scale at which cycling can contribute to mobility transition in Gelderland. E-bikes can replace part of car travel, especially for medium-distance trips that are too long for many people on a conventional bicycle.

The climate value depends on actual substitution. The strongest effect appears when e-bike use replaces car kilometres, is supported by safe routes and connects well to public transport. This makes cycling infrastructure, employer policy and secure parking part of the same transition package.
