Energy emissions fell by more than 31% between 2021 and 2023

The Energy domain in the Gelderland 2025 snapshot shows a strong decline: emissions fell from 2,943.8 to 2,026.0 kton CO₂-eq between 2021 and 2023. That is a reduction of more than 31%, making energy one of the domains where clear progress is already visible.

This decline does not mean the task is complete. The source places realised progress next to the remaining 2030 potential, especially through rooftop solar, onshore wind, ground-mounted solar, deep geothermal energy, aquathermal energy, nuclear energy and demand spreading. Grid capacity, permitting, spatial quality and local acceptance remain decisive for implementation.
