“Ready for Net Zero”
Why a future-proof Net Zero Strategy?
Climate change is a global challenge, and more and more companies are taking responsibility for it. Sustainability is an essential part of any company's strategy and we consider it a prerequisite for a future-proof business.
The world around us is currently undergoing a rapid transformation due to the exponential growth of sustainable technologies such as solar and wind energy, as well as innovative biobased materials. A future-proof strategy is essential to chart a course in this arena, respond to changing costs and revenues, and reduce the much-needed impact on the climate.

Investing in sustainability and net zero targets helps the company remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market. Legislation and regulations provide incentives to initiate this transition, as evidenced by the upcoming CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive). Many organizations see it as a challenge to comply with this new reporting framework.
For Dura Vermeer Group we have 2Impact and New Economy joined forces to prepare this family business for CSRD compliance. New Economy was particularly responsible for the climate component.
The path to CSRD compliance in the area of CO2
Mapping greenhouse gas emissions is no easy task. It requires careful consideration and structured steps to fully understand the impact of emissions. Scope 3 emissions (such as transport of goods, purchased goods and services, the use phase, and capital goods) pose a particular challenge. 2Impact and New Economy have provided Dura Vermeer with methods and calculation rules that enable the organization to independently calculate CO2-to calculate the impact of their activities on the climate and thus comply with the CSRD guidelines regarding CO reduction2-emissions. These emissions are calculated based on the Greenhouse Gas protocol mapped out. Four steps are important here.
Four steps to map scope 3;
1. Define which activities fall within the organization, for example through ownership or control, and which remain outside this scope.
2. Collect all data. This can be done directly by measuring emission sources, but also indirectly by modeling and calculating the use of fuels, materials, or even services.
3. The determine the impact of consumption. By carefully calculating which emissions occur, Dura Vermeer can gain insight into the extent of their impact.
4. Validation of the calculations and figures. It is crucial to apply the correct values to the current policies and processes within the organization.
Dura Vermeer one step closer to full CSRD reporting
In the world of sustainability reporting, it's essential to use proven methods. To ensure this remains a consistent practice, New Economy has developed an approach and, in collaboration with 2Impact, has documented it in a manual for Dura Vermeer. This approach offers an annual opportunity to complete the first four steps and provides a solid foundation for understanding and applying the methodology within the organization.
CSRD support in the field of CO2-emissions
The methodology developed by New Economy and 2Impact offers a valuable tool for organizations striving for transparency, reliability, and impactful sustainability reporting.
