Climate Action Plan

Vision development for promising climate solutions, inspired by Drawdown

Gain regional insight into the reduction and sequestration potential of greenhouse gases across various sectors. Discover which climate solutions can be implemented scalably and profitably now with the Climate Action Plan.

Inspired by Drawdown, the project maps out which climate solutions will lead to the desired emission reduction and sequestration, in relation to the set goals, and identifies the steps that can be taken to develop a regional vision and action plan.

A regional Climate Action Plan is an exploration for a region, based on the principles of Drawdown. In a regional context, it can provide insight into how the climate potential of different sectors relates to each other and how they can contribute to the Dutch 49% CO2-eq. reduction targets (and the European 55% CO2-eq. reduction targets).

From reduction to regeneration

It's becoming clear that more is possible than just "less bad." Natural climate solutions significantly increase the potential for natural greenhouse gas sequestration (biosequestration, negative emissions). This allows the province to work toward a climate-positive (regenerative) future.

What is Drawdown?

Drawdown is the point in the future at which greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere, instead of rising, will begin to decline due to the implementation of a broad set of climate solutions.

1

Emissions mapped

Mapping emissions from agriculture and land use, energy, mobility, the built environment, and industry.

2

Regionalization solutions

Selection of relevant climate solutions in relation to emissions and quantification of annual reduction and sequestration potential.

3

Scenarios

Mapping different reduction and capture scenarios per solution and sector.

4

Audience

The insights are translated into an interactive environment that lends itself well as a communication tool and as support for developing a joint climate strategy.
