Regenerative Modular Cabinet

The launch of biobaseddesign.com during Dutch Design Week 2023

New Economy and studio Brian Kersbergen introduce the platform for Biobased_Design with the first project, the Regenerative Modular Cabinet (RMC). During Dutch Design Week, you can meet the designers and the piece of furniture that represents a regenerative vision of design and materials at the Klokgebouw.

Can materials grow faster than we waste products?

Biobased_Design was created because we've moved beyond the fast-furniture era. According to its founders, it's time for a breath of fresh air in the interior design industry. It's an invitation for designers to create their own take on biobased and regenerative design. The platform offers a space, through furniture, for connection and education about regeneration.
It is Regenerative Modular Cabinet (RMC) is the first project of Biobased_Design and the first 200 unique units will be produced in early 2024: 100% biobased.

Design philosophy for a new movement

The RMC goes beyond traditional furniture design; it's a tangible example of how design can harmonize and connect with nature while stimulating people's creative thinking. Designer and co-founder of biobased design, Brian Kersbergen, explains that the seed has been planted to start a new movement. This piece of furniture is designed to grow, adapt, and redesign, enabling a new eco-approach.

The modular cabinet can be redesigned, rebuilt, and grown with you, aiming to encourage regeneration and have a positive impact on the environment.

Measuring is knowing

Biobased_Design chooses a transparent method for selecting materials. Unlike fast furniture, the RMC is built to last for generations. New Economy examines the impact of materials and connects the regenerative vision with concrete product development. Regenerative thinker and co-founder of Biobased_Design, Pepijn Duijvestein, explains: "With the RMC, we make tangible what seems incredibly complex about biobased construction.".

Materials for tomorrow

The launch of the RMC marks the beginning of the biobased revolution. It's the start of a learning project, and we've demonstrated that making a positive environmental impact doesn't have to be complicated. It can be local, better for our own soil, and contribute to better biodiversity. Fair production and reasonable prices.

The RMC aims to create materials and products that grow faster than they are used, creating an endless lifespan and a positive contribution to the environment.
