Co-Operate: ownership models for a pleasant neighborhood

Consortium And The People, New Economy and Space&Matter

A pleasant, safe neighborhood with a roof over our heads—that's what we all want. But can we still afford it? How do we ensure that the roof isn't a factor in speculation, and that a neighborhood becomes solely about money and no longer about the people whose lives take place there? How do we make a neighborhood healthy, sustainable, beautiful, enjoyable, and a place for everyone? That's exactly what we asked ourselves when we, together with AndThePeople, New Economy and Space&Matter I drank a cup of coffee at the kitchen table. That cup of coffee at the kitchen table then led to a new initiative: Co-Operate.

In the first research project from this consortium, we will identify shared ownership models that positively impact the circular ambitions of residential areas and also increase residents' well-being. At CLT Bijlmer, in the H-Buurt neighborhood, we will investigate how these models can be applied in practice. This action research is co-funded by Creative Industries Stimulation Fund and the municipality of Amsterdam.
