Sustainable area development education program

Urban Plan, Urban Land Institute

Urban Plan is an educational program that provides high school students with interactive insights into developing future-proof and sustainable neighborhoods. Participants are assigned roles in the private or public sector, such as Project Developer, Head of Sustainability, Neighborhood Representative, Contractor, or Head of Finance. During the exercise, in which they redevelop a fictional neighborhood, they are confronted with challenging problems, interests, and considerations. By the end of the day, a zoning plan must be in place, and the students will be judged by a professional jury of volunteers from the real estate industry. New Economy is the professional facilitator of the Urban Plan educational program.

Urban Plan is an educational program of the Urban Land Institute which has been successful in the US for years. Since 2014, the program has also been launched in the UK, and since 2020, Educatieve Projecten Nederland has been the agency that has been rolling out Urban Plan in the Netherlands in collaboration with New Economy.
